About Sanctuary
If you're looking to balance space and comfort with a touch of private luxury in Komodo, the 48-metre Sanctuary stands out – especially if you're travelling with a small group or couple wanting a quieter rhythm. With only 18 guests across 52 cabins, you’re not on a crowded cruise ship, but on a vessel designed for ease and intimacy. That means fewer people at the dive deck rail at sunrise, more room to stretch out on deck at Taka Makassar, and time to truly settle into the quiet moments – like the soft hum of the engine as you glide past Padar at dawn.
Your days follow a refined 3-day rhythm starting in Labuan Bajo. On Day 1, you’ll board in the afternoon and ease into the cruise with a short stop at Menjerite Island. The sandbar here appears at low tide – a perfect first snorkel with gentle currents and reef fish swirling around your fins. As the sun dips behind Komodo Island, you’ll return to the yacht, where the outdoor dining area comes alive with grilled seafood and local spices. The jacuzzi on the upper deck is ideal for soaking while watching the sky fade to indigo.
Day 2 begins early. You’ll anchor off Padar before sunrise, hiking the switchbacks to the viewpoint as the first light hits the crescent bays. The descent leads to a secluded beach where your crew has set up a breakfast spread under beach umbrellas. Later, you’ll walk among Komodo dragons at Loh Liang, then drift alongside manta rays at Manta Point – one of the few places in the region where cleaning stations draw them in consistently. The afternoon unfolds at Pink Beach, where you can swim in the shallows or explore the dry savannah behind the shore.
On Day 3, you’ll visit Taka Makassar, a sandbar that emerges at low tide like a sliver of paradise in the middle of the sea. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to photograph from the upper deck – and then jump into the turquoise water. A final snorkel at Kanawa Reef, with its soft corals and turtle sightings, wraps up the journey before the return to Labuan Bajo by late afternoon. With a dedicated diving deck, charging ports in every cabin, and en-suite bathrooms, Sanctuary supports both active days and real downtime.
This isn’t a party boat or a budget charter – it’s built for guests who want space to breathe and reliable comfort between adventures. The open-deck layout means sea breezes flow through the lounge areas, but you’ll also have air-conditioned cabins to retreat to. The 3D2N open-share itinerary works well if you’re flexible on dates and prefer meeting fellow travellers, but private charters can be arranged for families or groups who want full control over timing and route.
Keep in mind the shoulder months – March and November – can bring brief rain showers, but also fewer boats in the park. If you’re prone to seasickness, the lower cabins near the centre of the boat offer the most stability. And while Wi-Fi is available, it’s limited – better to treat this as a chance to disconnect, with only the sound of waves and the occasional call of a Brahminy kite overhead.
