About Magika Liveaboard
If you're looking to explore Komodo without compromising on space or comfort, Magika Liveaboard is built for your kind of trip. At 74 metres long, she carries just 22 guests across six cabins, giving you room to stretch out and settle in – rare for a VIP-tier boat. You’ll feel that extra breathing space on deck, especially in the late afternoon when everyone drifts to the front net or upper lounge to watch the sun fall behind Komodo’s jagged islands. With fewer guests per square metre, you’re not jostling for a seat or a snorkel spot, and that makes a real difference when you're chasing currents at Manta Point or boarding tenders for a dragon walk on Komodo Island.
Your days follow a rhythm that balances wildlife, water, and downtime. You’ll wake early on Day 2 for Padar Island’s sunrise hike – the switchbacks up the hill are steep, but the view across the three crescent bays is worth it. After breakfast, you’ll hike through the dry savannah of Komodo Island with a park ranger, watching for dragons in the underbrush. By midday, you’re cooling off with a swim at Pink Beach, where the sand gets its blush from crushed coral. In the afternoon, you’ll float above cleaning stations at Manta Point, where reef mantas glide in to be groomed by smaller fish. These aren’t just tick-box stops – the crew times arrivals to match tides and light, so your snorkel is active, not aimless.
Magika Liveaboard itself runs on a classic Phinisi hull but with modern systems under deck. You’ll notice it in the stability overnight when anchored near Kanawa or Taka Makassar – minimal roll, even during the August winds. Each cabin faces outward with ocean views, and the Master Ocean Cabin includes a private balcony, useful if you’re up late watching stars or early to catch a launch. The upper deck has a shaded dining area and an open lounge with 360-degree sightlines, ideal when you’re cruising between islands and want to spot dolphins or flying fish.
Magika’s 3D2N open-share itinerary starts and ends in Labuan Bajo. Day 1 begins with arrivals by 13:00, followed by a short sail to Kelor Island for a sunset swim and snorkel among hard corals. Day 2 starts early with Padar sunrise, then moves to Komodo Island for the dragon walk, followed by lunch and a long afternoon at Pink Beach and Manta Point. Sunset is spent at Kalong Island, where thousands of fruit bats stream from the mangroves. On Day 3, you’ll visit Taka Makassar’s sandbar at low tide, then snorkel at Kanawa before returning to Labuan Bajo by late afternoon. This route maximises wildlife and variety while minimising long motor hours.
What makes Magika a strong fit for small groups or families is the Family Cabin layout – designed for two adults and two children, with separate sleeping zones and extra storage. While the boat doesn’t have a kids’ programme, the open deck and shallow snorkel zones at Menjerite or Kanawa give younger guests room to explore safely. Divers and snorkellers are both well-supported: gear is included, and the crew runs separate briefings and drop points when needed. With only six cabins, you’re never waiting long to board or debark, and the tenders are launched quickly after anchoring.
